Attractions in Curitiba!



The following are some sights of our beloved city of Curitiba.


Oscar Niemeyer Museum


   The Oscar Niemeyer Museum is located in the city of Curitiba , capital of Paraná state ,Brazil.
  The complex of two buildings , located in an area of thirty-five thousand square meters ( of which nineteen thousand dedicated to the exhibition area ) , is a true example of architecture combined with Art .
   The first building was designed by Oscar Niemeyer in 1967 , true to the style of the time , conceived as an Institute of Education . This building has the second largest span of Brazil , with 65 . It was renovated and adapted to the function of the museum , for which Niemeyer designed the Annex , reminding one eye , giving it a new identity feature .

  Opened on November 22, 2002 under the name of New Museum , with the completion of the Annex was reopened on July 8, 2003 , receiving its current name . It is known locally as the Eye Museum , due to the design of your building , even though the inspiration is the symbol of the tree of Parana , the pine - do-Paraná ( Araucaria angustifolia ) .

  The institution focuses on the visual arts , architecture and design . By its grandeur , beauty and importance of the collection , currently represents a cultural institution with national and international projection .

The Botanical Garden


The Botanical Garden of Curitiba was opened in 1991, with an area of 245 thousand square meters. Its geometric gardens and greenhouse three domes became one of the main cards of Curitiba.
   The greenhouse holds plants characteristics of the Atlantic forest of Brazil. Its architecture, in metal and art-nouveau structure, was inspired by a crystal palace that existed in London in the 19th century.

Wire Opera House 

  It is one of the main cards of Curitiba. Was assembled in just 75 days and opened in March 18, 1992, in Park Quarry, near Leminski Paulo Cultural Center.  
The Wire Opera House was built in tubular structure and transparent polycarbonate roof. 
Circular in shape, the building is partially surrounded by an artificial lake,so that access to the auditorium is via a footbridge over the water. The project's architect Dominic Bongestabs,has capacity for 2,400 spectators and a stage of 400m ² for the artistic and cultural presentations.
The external environment of the Wire Opera is equally beautiful. It was the site where an old quarry work. Today, you can enjoy the native forest, a pond with carp, a cascade of 10 meters and several species of birds.

German Bosque

Description : With 40,000 m² , the German Bosque was built in honor of the German culture . At the top , has the Oratorio by Bach, replica of a Presbyterian church in neo-Gothic style used for concerts and exhibitions . It has an outdoor stage that can be used for artistic performances .A walkway , which is under renovation and blocked for visitation , the league Oratorio by Bach to a viewpoint that is also blocked , situated at the top of the tower called the Philosophers. 

The tower is composed of eucalyptus trunks 15 meters high , where you can observe the forest and part of the city of Curitiba . It was made in honor of Parana city of German philosophy and thinkers as Immanuel Kant , Friedrich Nietzsche and Hannah Arendt , among others .

  • The top of the tower toward the ground , is the Way of Tales . This is a track made of cobblestones that goes towards the other end of the forest , situated on a low point of land . On the way, are located tile panels that tell the story of John and Mary, written by the Brothers Grimm .
  •   Amid the trail is a children's library called " Witch House " or " House of Tales " . The space , with about 2700 copies , gets kids to call " Story Time " , during which characters like witches and fairies do a theatrical reading of fairy tales . Monday to Friday , the local schedule meetings for groups of schools, hospitals and social actions . Tourists can only participate if the house has not reached its maximum capacity . You can also borrow books from the library at no cost. For this, you need a membership card from any public library . To make the membership card , you must present proof of residence , identity document , a landline and a mobile .
  • At the end of the trail is located a portico that restores the facade of the Casa Milla , built in the early century in R. Blue Baron of Serro . The house is a symbol of German architecture in Curitiba . The balcony that was used in the construction of the replica is original . Amid the trail , one can see some species of animals such as skunk , hummingbird , robin , pogo stick , Bishop , clean - sheets and bat , passing freely through the park . In the forest plant species such as cinnamon , spur - of - cock, guabiroba , horse - whips , timbo , Surinam cherry , kapok and pine are found .
  • Capacity : No record capacity. The children's library holds up to 110 people.
